Ebooks coming to the Law Library!

The Library is introducing a brand new eBook platform from Lexis over the coming weeks: the LexisNexis Digital Library.  You’ll soon be able to check out digital versions of titles that will help you in your law school career, including treatises, practice manuals, rules books, form books, and more.

Deana Sparling of Lexis will be here this week to provide an overview of the LexisNexis Digital Library, mounted on the Overdrive platform.  Our Barry Law website isn’t quite ready for prime time, but this demo will give you an idea of what to expect when we go live later this fall.

You are encouraged to attend one of the demonstration sessions.  Pizza will be provided, so bring your own drink! There will also be drawings to win a Barry University spiral notebook, a Library print card worth $10 or a Lexis CamelBak water bottle at each session.

Please RSVP no later than Monday, September 15th by choosing a session through this link: https://doodle.com/rc6bniekmaz2dfhm.

While drop-ins will be accepted if you forget to respond, doing so will help ensure there will be plenty of pizza for everyone!

Lexis Digital Library Training times and dates include:

  • Tuesday, September 16th from 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm in ALC 201
  • Tuesday, September 16th from 5:30 pm -6:15 pm in the Moot Court Room
  • Wednesday, September 17th from 1:00 pm -1:45 pm in ALC 203

What if you can’t attend the demos?  Never fear!  You can always drop by one of the Library-hosted information tables conveniently located around campus.  Tables will be manned by library staff and Dean’s Fellow volunteers at the ALC and Cafe from 2:00-4:00 pm on Tuesday, September 16th and on Wednesday, September 17th from 9:00 am-Noon and 1:00-6:00 pm.

Of course, we always LOVE seeing you in the library!  Our friendly Reference Librarians will also be available to assist you with questions about the demonstration topics or with your other research and study needs. Diana and Louis are here from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday-Thursday and on Fridays from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm.  They can be contacted via phone at 321-206-5700 or by emailing lawreferencelibrarians@barry.edu.

We look forward to seeing you on the 16th or 17th!
