This is the FINAL WEEK to apply for the Trammell/Ahlers/Studwell Law Library Fellowship. If you enjoy legal research, love libraries, and want to learn everything about academic law libraries from YOUR Barry Law Library staff, this would be a perfect opportunity for you.
This is a six-week, full-time, PAID fellowship to be scheduled over the summer. We have had three successful Law Library Fellows so far, and we look forward to working with our fourth.
Apply at http://tinyurl.com/zhwysk3, and feel free to ask us any questions you might have. The application deadline is March 31st, THIS FRIDAY!
We have finished moving our Florida and Reference collections back downstairs to the beautiful new shelves on our first floor. These are some of our most popular and valuable collections of print materials, especially for our alumni, who are practicing law in the area.
Alumni, remember you are always welcome back at the Law Library, and we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by our recent renovations.
And to our entire Barry Law community, ask a Reference Librarian if you need help finding anything, and thank you for being patient with us as we renovate YOUR Law Library!
Today is the first day of Orientation here at Barry Law, so welcome to our entering 1L class! You’ll be hearing a lot about the Law Library and meeting our staff at several points over the next few days, but think of this place as your new home away from home, and our staff as your newest best friends and closest allies.
All of you, including those who have been around for a while, check out our redesigned Law Library website!
You may be surprised to see some big changes happening in the Law Library, but we are renovating the building for YOU, with several new study rooms being built. We have had to move things around (both in the Library itself and on the new site), so if you can’t find what you’re looking for, let us know!
Welcome to all, and welcome back! And we’ll see you all on Monday, if not before.
Congratulations to our Associate Director and Head of Public Services, Whitney Curtis, and our Electronic Resources and Acquisitions Assistant, Stephanie Bertone, for both recently celebrating their one-year anniversaries at the Barry Law Library!
Also, congratulations to our Reference Librarian and now ASSOCIATE Professor of Law Library, Diana Botluk, for her recent promotion!
When you see Whitney, Stephanie, and Diana around the Law Library, please congratulate them and thank them for everything they do around here.
There are less than three weeks until Christmas! It is at this time of year that everyone gets their holiday shipments out for the year, and as a result, our mailroom gets busy. For comparison: we shipped out three times as much personal mail last December as almost any other month this year! As many of you know, our campus mailroom not only handles all of the official mail for the campus, but also provides services for those who wish to send out their personal mail. Until recently, the procedure for personal mail was time-consuming. Now, the process is simple and efficient:
If you wish to send out personal mail, you can purchase stamps at the standard 49 cents each from the Circulation Desk (cash only). As always with personal mail, making sure you have the right amount of postage is up to you. However, if you are unsure how much postage to place on your mail, feel free to bring it back to the mailroom and we will weigh it for you. If you would rather have a full book of stamps, the campus bookstore has them for purchase.
